Some of you know that Bill and I dream of walking the Camino de Santiago — a 500 mile trek from France, over the Pyrenees Mountains, to Compostela de Santiago, and possibly on to the coast of Spain.
If you’ve known me for very long, you know that I love to walk and have walked long distances — to transport myself, for recreation, and for prayerwalking … though not as long as my Mom (who, at 75 is walking across the US for the second time).
What you might not know is that, over the past 3 years, Lyme has made just walking through my house a daunting task at times. I have nerve, muscle, and bone pain that can be excruciating. My legs are now somewhat bowed, and I cannot straighten my knees completely, nor can I bend them at much more than a 90 degree angle.
Four days ago, we took our first walk, which was less than a city block. Today, we walked around a block. With the poles, I can stand up straight, walk with very little pain, and have little or no limp!
I’m sure I’ll share more about this in the months to come (especially in our newsletter). But in the meantime … just rejoice with me. This is huge, huge, HUGE!
Today, 1 block. Next thing you know: 500 miles!
Isaiah Cadre Journal/Discussion Questions:
- What is something you really want to do/feel led by God to do, which is bigger than you can imagine at this time?
- Pray and ask God to show you the first baby step toward reaching that goal.
- Schedule a time to take that first step!
- Please, please write to me about it! I’d love to pray for you and rejoice with you.
